TERRA NAVIGA's illustrated maps are designed from the ground up based on the standard topography of the city they represent in order to gain utilitarian value as guides for the reader. Therefore, in order to "read" them, one should already know the method of reading the topographical map.
However, despite the topographic accuracy our maps possess, they present the topography at a 45 degree angle according to the rules of perspective in order to achieve their three-dimensional transparency. Further distortions are also applied (magnifications and reductions), in order to highlight areas of special or increased interest, while others are degraded as a result.
Thus, while for example the number and position of some building blocks remains correct, their size or proportions may differ from the real one.
Thus, TERRA NAVIGA maps, like all maps illustrated at an angle, also called "Bird's eye view" in international cartographic terminology, belong to the category of variable scale maps.
Such maps cannot be used to accurately calculate any distance, shape, size or time in real space.
Our illustrated maps are designed to be an essential educational aid in understanding the urban landscape, for fun and recreation only, and we do not in any way recommend them for uses requiring precision measurements, or emergency service or any other use that makes it legal accountable to their user.
Where such specifications are required or requested, we recommend that you use approved fixed-scale topographic maps designed for this purpose.
